I haven't gone far...
In December 1967 I married Nancy Grove from DeWitt. We will have
been married 43 years this coming December. We were married at
St Therese Church, and later moved to a new St Jude Parish in
DeWittt where we are currently members. We lived in Lansing until
1975 when we moved to a 19th century farmhouse with five acres
in Wacousta where we reside still. We have two children: Rebecca,
age 29, who lives at home and Matthew, age 27, who is a lieutenant
and flight navigator in the U.S. Air Force. Our children attended
St Michael Parish school and graduated from Grand Ledge Schools.
Military Service
After two years at MSU, I left the college and volunteered for
the draft. I was in the Army from October 1967 through October
1969. In March 1968 I was deployed to the Mekong Delta and was
assigned to the ARVN 21st Infantry Division as an advisor. I
attained the rank of infantry sergeant. After Vietnam I was stationed
at Fort Carson Colorado. For seven months we lived in Colorado
Springs, a city to which we would love to return and live.
Employment and Education
I had started working for A&P Tea Company in 1963 and worked
with the company until 1979. Having obtained a degree in Computer
Science from MSU. I obtained a job in I.T. field with the State
of Michigan, servicing the Department of Education. In January
2010 I retired.
Social
I like to hunt and fish. I take fishing trips to Canada and fish
Lake Michigan (Ludington), Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay. I love
gardening; we can our produce, venison and salmon. We heat our
home with wood so woodcutting is a "favorite" pasttime.
We like cruises; We will be taking our third in April 2011. We
also like to travel by air or by road; visiting our son. I coached
youth soccer and was a soccer referee for 12 years; I volunteered
for AYSO and was paid referee for USSF soccer and for adult leagues.
